Slum kids in India:
The migrant population in India is mostly illiterate and constantly on move, in search of some new good livelihood opportunities. Such kids often lose the opportunity to get proper schooling and stay uneducated. So, they often engage in labour to escape poverty and support their parents earn to live a basic life. Mostly girls in slum and rural areas are out of school and college as they are engaged or forced to get engaged in domestic activities and they do not go to school to look after their younger siblings or their household work. Similarly, boys drop out of school to enlarge household income. So, either way neither the girls nor the boys have the chance to get educated and live a qualified life further. The cycle of illiteracy will surely continue if proper steps and strict actions are not taken on time to reduce the illiteracy rate and drop-out rates, increase enrolment and encourage slum children and girl child’s education.
